こんにちは！ 私は今マレーシアのモナッシュ大学で勉強しています。モナッシュ大学を選んだ理由とマレーシアでの学生生活について紹介させていただきます。皆さんの将来に少しでも役立つと嬉しいです。

Hello! I am studying Monash University in Malaysia. I would like to share about why I chose to study here in Monash and my student life in Malaysia. I hope this helps you to study abroad in the future.

１）マレーシアのモナッシュ大学を選んだ理由

私は世界情勢に興味があったので、国際関係論を専攻したいという希望がありました。また、多様な人々がいる環境でこの分野を学んだ方が面白いと思い、日本の大学よりも海外の大学を探し始めました。

私がモナッシュ大学を選んだ理由は3つあります。1つ目は、他の大学の国際関係論は主に政治に焦点を当てているのに対し、この大学は文化など他の分野にも力を入れていることです。2つ目は、世界ランキングが高いことです。モナッシュ大学は世界ランキング37位で、周囲の学生のレベルが高く、学業への環境が整っていると思いました。さらに、モナッシュ大学には交換留学制度があり、来年はインドと中国の大学への留学を考えています。3つ目は、マレーシアにキャンパスがあることです。モナッシュ大学はオーストラリアの大学ですが、私はアジアにとても興味があります。マレーシアにはマレー人、中国人、インド人のコミュニティがあり、様々文化や言語を学ぶことができます。

1) Why did I choose Monash University? Malaysia??
I had the desire to take a major in international relationships since I was interested in world affairs. However, I thought it would be more interesting to study this field in an environment with a diverse range of people, so I started looking at universities abroad rather than studying international relations at a Japanese university.

There are three reasons why I chose Monash University. The first reason is that while international relations at other universities mainly focus on politics, my university also emphasizes other areas such as culture. The second reason is its high global ranking. Monash University is ranked 37th in the world, and I thought the high level of surrounding students and the diligent academic environment would be great. Furthermore, Monash University has an exchange program, and I am considering studying abroad at universities in India and China next year. The third reason is that it has a campus in Malaysia. Although Monash University is an Australian university, I am very interested in Asia. ２）マレーシアでの学生生活

結論から言うと、私はマレーシアへの留学を強くお勧めします！
ところで、これ（写真のマンゴー）はいくらかわかりますか？　答えはたったの30円です！　マンゴー1個がたったの30円です！　日本ではマンゴー1個が3,000円くらいだと聞きました。

これ（写真中央・右）は私の家の写真です。ジム、プールがあり、価格は・・・ たったの１カ月4万円です。マレーシアの生活費は日本の約3分の1なので、すべてがより手頃な価格です。マレーシアは費用だけでなく、食べ物でもお勧めです。マレーシア料理を食べたことがありますか？ まだなら、今すぐ試してみてください！　 このような素敵な食べ物を見てください。マレーシアは多様性に富んでいるので、マレーシアのインド料理やマレーシアの中華料理も試すことができます！　

夏が好きなら、是非マレーシアに来てください。ここは毎日夏で、毎日30℃なので、ジャケットは必要ありませんが、日焼け止めは必要です。

私は世界中の国々の人と友達になれました。特にマレーシアはアジアからの留学生が多いので、ブルネイやモルディブなど、日本ではなかなか知り合えないような国の人とも友達になれました。日本にいたら絶対に知り得なかった文化や習慣などを知ることができ、日々新しい知識が増え、世界が広がります。
しかし、もちろん欠点もいくつかあり、その一つが衛生環境です。路上にはゴミが散乱していたり、トイレもあまりきれいではありませんでした。 でも、心配しないでください。慣れれば大丈夫です。日本はそれに比べるときれいすぎるだけです。

2） Student life in Malaysia
I highly recommend to study abroad in Malaysia.
By the way, can you guess how much it is? The answer is only 30 yen!!!!　 Imagine one mango for only 30 yen,
I heard one mango costs about 3,000yen in Japan.
This is my home, having a gym and a pool, and the price is… only 40,000 yen per month. The cost of living in Malaysia is about one-third of that in Japan, so everything feels more affordable. I recommend Malaysia not only for cost but also for food. It is perfect here.
Have you tried Malaysian food before? If not, you should try it now!
Look at these lovely foods. As I mentioned, Malaysia is diverse, so you can try Malaysian Indian, and Malaysian Chinese food as well!!
Do you like summer? If yes, come to Malaysia right now! Every day is summer here; every day it’s 30℃, so no need to wear jackets, but suncream is necessary.

I've been able to make friends with people from countries all over the world. In particular, Malaysia has many international students from Asia, so I’ve been able to make friends with people from countries like Brunei and the Maldives, whom I wouldn't normally have the chance to meet in Japan. I can learn about their cultures, customs, and things I would have never known if I had stayed in Japan. Every day, I gain new knowledge, and my world expands.
However, there are certainly some drawbacks, and one of them is the hygienic environment. There is litter on the streets, and the toilets are not very clean. But don’t worry, you can get used to it. Japan is just too clean in comparison.

３）学校生活

授業は基本的に週4回です。ただし、どの授業もグループワークなので、教授の話を聞くだけではなく、グループでディスカッションをします。グループワークでは、協力し合い、お互いの意見を尊重することが求められます。
授業は決して受け身ではありません。また、紙はほとんど使わず、レポートも含めてすべてコンピューターで行います。残念ながら、課題の量が膨大で、授業後は図書館で長時間勉強することになります。勉強は大変ですが、学校ではさまざまなイベントが開催されます。たとえば、パーティーでは新しい友達を作ることができ、とても楽しいです。

3） My school life
I basically have classes four times a week. However, every class involves group work, so it's not just about listening to the professor, but rather having discussions in groups. In group work, cooperation and respecting each other's opinions are required.
The classes are not passive at all. Additionally, I hardly use paper; everything, including reports, is done on the computer. Unfortunately, the amount of assignments is quite overwhelming, so after classes, I end up studying at the library for long hours. Studying is tough, but various events, such as parties, where I can make new friends, are held at school, and it’s a lot of fun.
