アイルランドに留学してからはやくも一ヶ月半が経ちました。すべてが新しい経験で慣れないことが多いけれど、刺激的で充実した留学生活を送っています！
　アイルランドはとても寒く、天候が変わりやすいです。雨の日も多く、急に降ることが多いので折り畳み傘を常に持ち歩いてます。また、風が強くより寒く感じます。

It has already been a month and a half since I started studying in Ireland. 　Everything is new and unfamiliar to me, but I am having an exciting experience.
Ireland is very cold and the weather is changeable. It often rains suddenly.　So, I always carry a folding umbrella. Also, the wind is strong and it feels colder.

〔ホストファミリー〕

　私は最初の一週間は二人暮らしの夫婦の家にホームステイしていました。その後、今過ごしているホストファミリーの家に行きました。ホームステイ先には夫婦と社会人の娘さん、犬一匹とオウムがいます。家族みんながとても優しく、楽しく過ごしています。特にホストマザーが作ってくれるご飯がとても美味しくて気に入っています。アイルランドの人は食後にアイスクリームを食べることが多いらしく、毎日食後のデザートにアイスクリームを食べています。ホストファミリーと会話しながら食べる夕食の時間はとても楽しいです！

Host family

I stayed with an older couple for the first week. After that, I went to my current host family’s place. My host family is a family of three, and we have a father, a mother, an adult daughter, a dog, and a parrot. The host family is very kind and enjoys spending time together. I especially like the food that my host mother makes for me. It seems that Irish people often eat ice cream after dinner, and I eat ice cream for dessert after dinner every day. I enjoy having dinner while conversing with my host family.

〔学校〕

　私はアイルランドの首都ダブリン郊外にあるMount Anville Secondary Schoolという学校に通っています。学校の敷地がとても大きく、教室がたくさんあるので最初の2、３日は迷子になり、通りすがりの先生や生徒に助けてもらいました。この学校では１，２時間目→休み時間→３，４時間目→お昼休み→５，６時間目という時間割構成になっていて、授業終わりごとに休み時間がある日本との違いに驚きました。また、授業では先生の話すスピードに中々理解が追い付かず、何を言っているかわからないこともたくさんあります。でも最初の授業より聞き取れる英語が増えてきて、授業が理解できた時はとても嬉しいです。他にも、私はサッカー部とバドミントン部に参加しています。どちらの部活も週に一回の活動なので日本より簡単に参加でき、体を動かすこともできるのでとても楽しいです！

　学校生活を送る中で一番大変なことが通学で使うバスです。アイルランドのバスは遅延することが普通で、一時間待っても来ないことがあります。それに加えて、バスが満員で乗れないことも多くあり、バスに乗ることが中々難しいです。日本の満員電車に比べると車内に余裕があると感じますが、バスの運転手さんが満員と判断するとバス停にも止まらず、通り過ぎてしまいます。ホームステイ先の家と学校間の距離を徒歩で一時間半かけて歩く時もたまにあり、バスに乗れた時はとてもうれしいです。私がアイルランドに来て一番日本との違いを感じたのもバス(交通機関)です。

Our school

　I attend a school called Mount Anville Secondary School in the suburbs of Dublin, the capital of Ireland. The school is very large and has many classrooms, so I got lost for the first few days and had to get help from passing teachers and students. The timetable of this school is 1,2 period → break time → 3,4 period → lunch time → 5,6 period. So, I was surprised at the difference from Japan, where there is a break at the end of every class. In class, it is difficult to keep up with the speed at which the teacher speaks, and there are many times when I don’t understand what the teacher is saying. But I can hear more English than in the first class, and I am very happy when I can understand the class. I join the soccer and badminton clubs. Both club activities are once a week, so it is easier to join than in Japan, and it is a lot of fun to be physically active.
The most difficult part of school life is the buses we use to get to school. Delays are common for buses in Ireland, and sometimes they do not come even after waiting for an hour. In addition, it is often difficult to get on a bus because the buses are full. Compared to packed trains in Japan, I feel there is more space in the bus, but if the bus driver decides that the bus is full, the bus will not even stop at the bus stop and pass by. Sometimes it takes an hour and a half to walk the distance between my homestay house and the school. So, I am very happy when I can get on the bus.

〔日常生活〕

　アイルランドでは男の子にはラグビー、女の子にはホッケーが人気です。道で通り過ぎる男の子たちがラグビーボールをよく持っていて、ラグビーの人気を日常でも感じます。また、ゲーリックフットボールというアイルランド発祥のスポーツを体育の授業でやったり、週末の公園で子供たちがやっているのを見かけたりとアイルランドならではの文化も体験できてとても楽しいです。

　アイルランドに留学している私ともう一人の友達は同じホームステイ先なのと、私たちのホストファミリーは一緒にお出かけする感じではないので、週末は二人で観光しています。ダブリンのシティーセンターに行って、ダブリン城やトリニティカレッジなどを観光したり、二人で二時間半かけて田舎のほうに行き観光したりして、アイルランドを冒険しています！
　また、International Language Schoolが運営している歴史を学びながら観光地を回ることができるツアーにも参加しています。三月には世界遺産であるジャイアンツ・コーズウェーに行く予定があり、とても楽しみです！
　あと半分の留学生活も、悔いが残らず、自分自身の成長につながるように全力で頑張ります！

Daily Life

　In Ireland, rugby is popular for boys and hockey for girls. 　Boys on the street often have rugby balls, and I feel the popularity of rugby. 　It is enjoyable to experience the unique culture of Ireland, such as playing Gaelic football, a sport that originated in Ireland, in physical education and seeing children playing it in the park on weekends.
My other friend and I are in the same homestay house and our host family does not like going out together, so we are sightseeing together on weekends. 　We are having a two-person adventure in Ireland, going to the center of Dublin to see Dublin Castle and Trinity College, and sightseeing in the countryside, which is 2.5 hours away.
We also join in tours offered by the International Language School, where we can learn about history and visit sightseeing places. I have plans to visit the Giant’s Causeway, a World Heritage Site, in March. 　I’m really looking forward to it.

I will do my best to make sure that the other half of my study abroad experience will lead to my personal development without leaving any regrets.
