ごきげんよう。私は今ドイツにあるビーレフェルトという町に留学しています。
　ビーレフェルトは自然が多くとても空気が澄んでいます。また、街並みが東京とは全く異なり、建物は小さくカラフルで、とても魅力的です。
　
　ドイツに来てから約3週間が経ちましたが、初めの1週間は日本と異なる点が多く、この環境に慣れるのに時間がかかりとても長く感じました。ですが、交換留学でバディとはすでにお互いを知っていたためとても心強かったです。今ではドイツでの生活に慣れ、日本ではできない貴重な体験を楽しんでいます。

Hello! I have been studying abroad in Bielefeld, Germany.
Bielefeld has a lot of nature and fresh air. Also, the cityscape is very different from Tokyo. The buildings are small, colorful, and charming.

It has been about three weeks since I came to Germany, but in the first week, I felt very long. Because there were many differences from Japan, it took a lot of time to get used to this environment. However, thanks to the exchange program, we already knew each other, so I thought it was very helpful. Now, I have gotten used to life in Germany and I’m enjoying valuable experiences that I can’t do in Japan.


〔ホストファミリーについて〕
　私のホストファミリーは、ホストファザー、ホストマザー、大学生のホストブラザー、バディ、の4人家族です。ホストファザーは消防士で仕事が忙しいため、普段家ではホストマザーとホストブラザーとバディと過ごしています。また、家ではバルーという1匹の犬を飼っています。バルーはとても頭が良くかわいくて、毎日癒されています。

　私のバディはハンナという子で3歳年上です。ハンナは普段ドイツ語を使って生活していますが、英語も話すことができるため私とのコミュニケーションは英語で行っています。また、ハンナは学校で日本語を履修しているため簡単な日本語も話すことができます。

　私がホームステイしている家は一戸建てでとても広く、1つの部屋を自分の部屋として使わせてもらっています。家の周りは自然が多くとても静かです。

　ドイツでは17歳から運転免許を取得することができ、ハンナもすでに免許を持っているため、放課後や休日はハンナが運転する車で出かけることが多いです。
　休日はオランダの西部にあるアムステルダムや、ドイツの首都であるベルリンに連れて行ってもらいました。 　アムステルダムには車を使って行ったのですが、私には飛行機やパスポートを使わずに国境を越えることができるのがとても新鮮でした。
　ベルリンへは電車で約3時間かけて向かい、私たち留学生3人と、それぞれのバディを含めた6人で2泊3日の旅行をしました。現地では、有名なブランデンブルク門や、国会議事堂、ベルリンの壁などに連れて行ってもらいました。

　平日も放課後に様々な場所へ連れて行ってくれることが多く、農場に行って馬や牛のお世話をしたり、ビーレフェルトにある昔のお城を見たりしました。
　また、ハンナは地域のバレーボールチームに所属していて、私も大妻多摩でバレーボール部に入っているため何回か練習にも連れて行ってくれました。違う日には、ハンナの友達と遊びに行ったり、ハンナの親戚と食事をしたりしたのですが、全員私のことを快く受け入れてくれてありがたかったです。

About my host family
My host family includes my host father, host mother, host brother, who is a university student, and my buddy. My host father is a firefighter and he is always busy, so I usually spend time at home with my host mother, host brother and my buddy.
Also, they have a dog named Baloo. He is intelligent and so cute. So thanks to Baloo, I can relax every day.

My buddy is Hannah, and she is 3 years older than me. Hannah usually speaks German, but she can also speak English well, so we communicate in English. Also she is taking Japanese classes at school, so she can speak easy Japanese.

The house that I’m staying in is a detached house and really big, and I’m using one room as my room. There is a lot of nature around the house and it is very quiet.

In Germany, they can get a driver’s license from 17 years old, and Hannah already has one. So we often go out after school and on weekends by her car.
On weekends, they took us to Amsterdam in the west of the Netherlands and Berlin, the capital of Germany.
We went to Amsterdam by car. And it was very interesting that we can cross the border without using an airplane and a passport.
We took a train for about three hours to Berlin, and six of us, including the three exchange students and our buddies, went on a three-day, two-night trip. On that trip, they took us to the famous Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, and the Berlin Wall.

On weekdays, she often takes me to various places after school, such as to a farm where we take care of horses and cows, or to see the old castle in Bielefeld.
Hannah is in a local volleyball team, and I’m also a member of the volleyball club at Otsuma Tama, so she took me to volleyball practice a few times. On other days, I went to play with Hannah's friends and had dinners with her relatives, and I was grateful that everyone was welcoming to me.


〔学校生活について〕
　私は Berufskolleg Senneという学校に通っています。この学校は一般的な学校とは異なり職業専門学校で、生徒は日本語を履修できることも特徴の一つです。この学校の学生は17歳〜25歳くらいの人が多く、大学のようでとても自由な雰囲気の学校です。最初は、日本の学校と全く異なり驚きました。

　授業の時間割も日本とは大きく異なります。大妻多摩のような朝礼はなく、1コマ目が7時30分から始まります。1コマの授業は90分で、基本的に1日4コマあります。休憩は15分が3回ありますが、日本のようにお昼ご飯を食べるための長い休み時間はありません。そのため、授業の合間に、廊下のベンチなどでホストマザーが準備してくれたサンドイッチなどを食べます。

　私が受けている授業は、数学、化学、英語、日本語、ドイツ語、宗教、美術、グラフィックデザインです。ほとんどの授業がドイツ語で行われるため、すぐに内容を理解するのは難しいですが、バディやクラスメートに助けてもらいながら頑張っています。また、日本語を教えている日本人の先生がいるので、その先生から基本的なドイツ語も学んでいます。

　また、日本語の授業にも何度か参加しました。外国の生徒たちが日本語をどのように学び、練習しているのかを知ることができて、とても興味深かったです。また、私たちは日本語クラスの生徒に向けて、大妻多摩の学校生活や日本文化についてプレゼンテーションを行いました。

About school
I go to school named Berufskolleg Senne. This school is a vocational school, and one of its features is that students can take Japanese classes.

Most of the students are between 17 and 25 years old, and the school has a very free atmosphere, like a university. At first, I was surprised that there are a lot of differences between schools in Japan and Germany.

The class schedule is also very different from Japan. There is no morning assembly like Otsuma Tama, and the first class starts at 7:30. Each class is 90 minutes long, and there are four classes a day. There are three 15 minute breaks, but there is no long lunch break like Japan. Therefore, between classes, I eat sandwiches prepared by my host mother on benches.

The classes I’m taking are math, Chemistry, English, Japanese, German, religion, art, graphic design, and bookbinding. Most of the classes are spoken in German, so it's difficult to understand, but I'm doing my best with my buddy’s and classmates’ help. Also, there is a Japanese teacher who teaches Japanese in this school, so I have been learning basic German a little.
Also, I took some Japanese classes, and it was very interesting, because I could know how foreign people learn and practice Japanese. We also made a presentation to the Japanese class students about Otsuma Tama and Japanese culture.


〔印象に残っていること〕
　私がドイツで最も印象に残ったことの一つは、環境保護に対する取り組みです。例えば家では、パンを食べるときに使うまな板や、学校に持っていくサンドイッチ用の袋などを何度も再利用しています。また、ゴミの分別も非常に細かく、燃えるゴミ、燃えないゴミ、紙類、生ごみなどにしっかり分けています。さらに、スーパーでは紙のパッケージの商品が多く使われていたり、ペットボトルを回収するとお金が戻ってくるリサイクル制度があったりします。日本でも環境保護の取り組みはありますが、ドイツではそれがより徹底されていることに驚き、とても印象に残りました。

About impressive things
One of the things that impressed me about Germany is attempts to protect the environment.　For example, at home, the cutting board that I used to eat bread and the sandwich bags that I used to take to school are reused many times. Also, they separate their garbage very carefully, separating it into burnable garbage, non-burnable garbage, paper, and food waste. Additionally, in the supermarkets, there are a lot of products with paper packages, and there is a recycling system that you can get money back if you collect plastic empty bottles. There are efforts to protect the environment in Japan too, but I was surprised and impressed that they are more careful in Germany.

　今まで私は、自分の英語に自信がなく、英語で話すことに少し抵抗がありました。しかし実際に留学してみると、完璧ではない英語で話しても、相手はしっかりと私との会話に向き合ってくれて通じるのだと実感しました。今では、「完璧でなくても、まずは伝えてみよう！」と思えるようになり、英語を使って話すということがとても楽しく感じます。
　残りの数日間も、悔いのないように一日一日を大切にしながら、ドイツでの生活を楽しみたいです。

Until I came here, I didn't have confidence to speak English and I was a little bit scared to speak in English. But, I have learned even if I speak in imperfect English, people would listen to me carefully, and we can communicate. Now, I can think, "Even if my English is not perfect, I will just try to communicate!", and I really enjoy speaking in English.

I want to enjoy the rest of my days in Germany, by cherishing each day.
