高校１年生(32期生)　　ニュージーランド留学

ごきげんよう！　私は今、ニュージーランドに留学しています。1月18日にオークランドに到着し、最初の1週間は、オークランドで日本人のみのクラスで授業を受けました。ニュージーランドの先住民族であるマオリ族のダンスを教室の外でみんなで踊ったり、とても楽しい時間でした。私のホストマザーは、毎日あらゆる場所に連れて行ってくれたので、ホームシックになる時間もなく、本当に充実した一週間を送ることができました。上の写真はPt Chevalier Beachというビーチに連れて行ってもらった時に現地の人が撮ってくれました！

Hello！I’m studying in New Zealand. I arrived in Auckland on January 18^th, and I took lessons for a week. I danced Maori’s dance in the schoolyard with my friends. It was a great time. My host family took me to many places every day, so I didn’t get homesick and could spend a wonderful week. A local lady took this picture for me on a beautiful beach.

たくさんの思い出がありますが、オークランドで過ごした一週間で一番思い出に残っていることは、一緒にホームステイをしていた小川さんと色んな日本料理を作り、ホストマザーと娘さんにふるまったことです。二人ともたくさん食べてくれて、何度も美味しいと言ってくれて、お話もたくさんできて幸せな時間でした。娘さんが肉じゃがをとても気に入ってくれて、作り方を知りたいと言ってくれたので、その日の夜に、小川さんと部屋で試行錯誤しながら英語でレシピを書いて渡しました。とても喜んでくれて本当に嬉しかったです。Whangareiへ移動するバスに乗ったときは、ホストファミリーと別れるのが寂しくて泣いてしまいました。

My best memory in Auckland is making Japanese food with Ms. Ogawa, who is home staying with me. My host family and her daughter ate so much and said “This is delicious!” and we enjoyed talking. It was a happy time for me.  Ms. Ogawa and I wrote a recipe for nikujyaga in English and gave it to my host family’s daughter because she loved nikujyaga and wanted to know how to make it. She was very delighted, so I was glad. I cried when I got on the bus to Whangarei.

私が今通っているWhangarei Girl’s High Schoolで、二か月間お世話になるホストファミリーと対面しました。私のホームステイ先は、羊と犬と猫、そして４姉妹とホストペアレンツが暮らしていて、とても賑やかな、farmを経営している家族です。そして、対面してすぐ、びっくりすることが起きました。ホストファミリーはみんな日本のアニメと文化が大好きで、なんと自己紹介を日本語でしてくれたのです。しかも、私を受け入れる１週間前まで日本に旅行に来ていたそうです。ホストペアレンツは日本の文化も日本人も大好きでいてくれて、たくさん日本について聞かれるので、写真なども見せながら、説明を頑張っています。４姉妹は全員私よりも年下ですが、すごく人懐っこくて優しくて、毎日癒されています。ニュージーランドの子供は小さいころから家事のお手伝いをするらしく、洗濯物を畳んだり、掃除機をかけたり、食器を洗うなど、何も言われなくても自分たちでやっていて感動しました。四姉妹に折り紙を教えてあげたり、セーラームーンなどの日本のアニメを英語で見たり、お庭にある大きなプールで泳いだり、毎日とても充実していて幸せです。

I met my next host family at Whangarei Girl’s High School. My host parents have four daughters, sheep, dogs and cats. They run a farm, and are a lively family. I was surprised because my host parents introduced themselves in Japanese, and they had visited Japan until a week before I left Japan. They love Japanese culture and Japanese, so I teach them Japanese culture with pictures. My host sisters are younger than me and friendly and kind, so I was given happiness by them. Kiwi’s kids have some chores, so they fold up the laundry, vacuum up, and wash the dishes by themselves. I tell them how to fold origami, watch Japanese anime in English or swim in a pool with them, and so on in my free time. I’m very happy because I’m fulfilled every day.

学校では、毎日ベストを尽くすように心がけています。私は人見知りだったのですが、ニュージーランドに来てからは新しい友達を作ることが楽しく、積極的に自分から声をかけるようになりました。ドイツ、香港、タイから来た留学生とお話をしたり、連絡先を交換したりして、とても充実しています。また、授業では、必ず誰かの隣に座って、隣の子に自分から話しかけるようにしています。自分で興味のある教科を取ることができ、日本にはないものが学べて毎日新鮮で楽しいです。これは私の時間割です！

I’m doing my best in school life every day. I became active and friendly, and it’s fun to make new friends. I talked with international students from Germany, China, and Thailand and exchanged contacts. I decided to sit next to classmates and talk to them.  I can take lessons, so every day is fresh and fun. This is my timetable!
