高校１年生(32期生)　　イギリス留学

ごきげんよう！イギリスのWestonbirt Schoolに留学している秋島です。１月４日にイギリスに到着し、約２週間がすぎました。ここでは全てが新しいことばかりなので、毎日とても疲れますが色々な発見があり充実した生活を送っています。

まず、ホストファミリーのことをお話ししたいと思います。私達（私ともう１人の留学生：市口さん）はイギリスに到着した後、ホストファミリーと会いました。私のホストファミリーはお父さん、お母さん、お兄さん、お姉さんの4人で残念なことにお兄さんは今大学の寮に入っているため会えませんでしたが、みんなとても優しいです。ホストシスターと好きなシンガーの話をしたり、ホストマザーやホストファザーは日本に行ったことがあるそうなのでその話をしたりとホストファミリーと話すのはとても楽しく、たまに単語の発音の仕方なども教えてもらいます（笑）。実は市口さんのホストファミリーと私のホストファミリーはお友達だそうで、今週末には２家庭でズンバ（※）をする予定です。またホストファミリーの家にはお庭があり、たまにリスが現れるそうです！とても自然豊かで暖かな家族だと思いました。

Hello! My name is Akishima, studying at Westonbirt School in England. About two weeks have passed since I came to England on January fourth.

In England, everything is new for me, so I’m very tired but I can get a lot of new knowledge, the way of thinking and so on. I really enjoy my life.

First, I would like to introduce about my host family. After we arrived at England, we went to our host family’s house by car. My host families are made up by father, mother, older sister and older brother. Unfortunately, host brother stays in the board of university now, so I can’t meet him. I really enjoy talking with them. Sometimes they teach me the pronunciation. Actually, Midori’s host family and my host family are friends! We are going to do Zumba this weekend! Zumba is a sort of exercises. There are some videos on YouTube, so if you are interested, please watch! Our host families are very kind and nice!

次に学校生活についてお話ししたいと思います。２日間のホームステイの後、私達は１月６日に入寮し、翌日から授業が始まりました。私はバドミントンという名前のハウスに入っています。この学校では生徒の多くが留学生であるため、日本のような留学生歓迎ムードのようなものは過度には無く、自分から話しかけたりしっかりと自分の意見を持って自己主張をしないと進まないことがすごく多かったです。はじめはわからないことだらけで色々大変なこともありましたが、最近やっと慣れてきて学校が楽しくなってきました。私の寮の部屋は５人部屋で、私以外に３人の中国人の女の子と1人のメキシコ人の女の子と一緒に生活しています。4人ともとても英語が上手く、色々学ぶことが多いです。

週末にはショッピングトリップやエアホップなど様々なイベントがあります。私は先々週友達と一緒にショッピングトリップに参加し、お寿司を食べにいきました！毎週とても楽しみです！

Second, I would like to introduce my school life. After two-day-homestay, we went to Westonbirt school and got a room in a board on January sixth and next day, classes were started. I stay in the house named Badminton. Many students come from foreign countries to study at this school, so there isn’t a mood where they take care of students from other countries especially. I have to talk to people positively and have my own opinion. It is important to express myself. At first, I often had trouble because everything around me is new, but I learned and understand about that so now, I enjoy my school life here now. My roommates are three Chinese girls and one Mexican girl. Their English is very good, so I learn a lot from them.

On weekend, we have various events like a shopping trip and going to the air hop trampoline park. Two weeks ago, I went to a shopping trip with my friends and ate sushi! It was really nice! I’m always looking forward weekends.

入寮して最初の１週間は夜なかなか寝付けなかったり、なかなか環境に順応できず虚しくなったりなど楽しいことだけでなく辛いこともありましたが、今はイギリスでの生活を全力で楽しんでいます！

残りの時間を大切に、自分にとって後悔のないようにベストを尽くし有意義な生活を送りたいと思います。

The first week was very hard for me, but I have overcome these difficulties and now I am having a great time in Westonbirt!

Now I have 10 weeks left before I come back to Japan. I will use these terms effectively and I would like to develop more confidence in myself!
