高校１年生(32期生) ニュージーランド留学
Sacred Heart Girls’ Collegeにて
ごきげんよう!高橋です。私は、今ニュージーランドに留学しています。ニュージーランドは現在夏でとても暑い日が続いています。ここでの生活は私にとって、とても新鮮です。そのため大変なことも多くありますが、日々新しい発見ができ、とても充実しています。
Kia Ora! I’m Takahashi. I’m studying in New Zealand. It’s summer here and it’s so hot every day. Living in English every day is very hard for me. However, there are lots of new discoveries. I can enjoy it very much.
初めの1週間に、オークランドで行われた事前英語研修は、私にとってこの留学の大きな支えとなりました。ここで、日本人の友達と一緒に、ニュージーランドの文化や簡単な英会話を学びました。ニュージーランドの食べ物を食べたり、現地のショッピングモールへ行き買い物をするなどして、とても楽しい時間を過ごしました。またこの1週間、とてもやさしいご夫婦の家にホームステイさせていただきました。到着したばかりで不安だった私を、彼らはあたたかく迎え入れてくれました。彼らは毎日ビーチやスカイタワー、オークランド動物園などいろいろなところへ連れて行ってくれました。そのおかげで、不安な気持ちもなくなり、オークランドでの生活がとても有意義なものとなりました。最終日にハミルトンへ移動する際には、ホストファミリーや語学研修の先生と別れるのがとても寂しく感じました。
The English training I had for a first week was very useful for me. I learned about Maori culture and took an English conversation lesson with my friends. We had a really good time eating New Zealand’ foods and going to local shopping mall. I stayed at a very friendly family’s house. They warmly welcomed me who had just arrived and was worried. They took me to the beach, Sky Tower, Auckland Zoo and so on. That’ why I could really enjoy the life in Auckland. I felt lonely to break up with my host family and English teacher on the last day.
次に、私の学校について紹介します。私は、ハミルトンにあるSacred Heart Girls’ Collegeに通っています。毎日ホストシスターや、友達と一緒にバスで通学しています。驚くことに、私が利用しているバスは、ほとんど次に停車するバス停の名前を知らされません。初めは、このことにとても戸惑いましたが、今ではもう慣れて一人で通学できるようになりました。
Next, let me introduce about my school. I go to Sacred Heart Girls’ College in Hamilton. I go there by bus every day with my host sister and friends. Surprisingly, the bus I use doesn’t tell us the name of the bus stop that stops. At first, I was very confused by this, but now I’m used to it and can go to school alone.
私の学校は、75分の授業が1日に4つあります。lesson1とlesson2の間には20分間のmorning tea timeがあります。そこで、果物やお菓子を食べながら、友達と話す時間が毎日とても楽しいです。授業は、1人ひとりが受けたい授業を選択するので、まったく同じ授業をとっている生徒はほとんどいません。また、日本のように朝と帰りのホームルームがなく、各々で教室移動をするのが当たり前です。だからこそ、たくさんの生徒と話す機会があり、とても嬉しいです。
また、私の学校には様々な国から来た留学生がいます。そのため、現地の子だけでなく、韓国やタイ、フィリピン人の友達も作ることができました。
We have four 75-minutes classes a day. There is a morning tea time between lessons 1 and 2. Talking with my friends while eating fruits and snacks is very fun. All students choose the class we want to take. Therefore, few students take all same classes. Also, we don’t have homeroom like in Japan and each student moves to the class room. That’s why I have an opportunity to communicate with many students.
In addition, my school has many international students from different countries. So, I was able to make friends from Korea, Thailand and the Philippines as well as Kiwi.
私が今ホームステイさせてもらっている家庭には、18歳と8歳の女の子と両親がいます。18歳のホストシスターとは、一緒に学校に通っています。彼女は、学校について教えてくれるなどいつも私の面倒を見てくれます。
放課後は友達やホストシスターとショッピングモールへ行ったり、8歳のホストシスターと遊んだりして楽しく過ごしています。学校では、私はオーケストラのクラブに所属していて、他にコーラスのグループの活動に参加しています。大好きな音楽に触れる機会があってとても嬉しいです。
There are 18 and 8 years old girls and parents in my current host family. I go to school with my host sister, who is 18 years old. She looks after me as if she was my real sister. After school, I usually go to the shopping mall and play in home with them and my friends. Also, I belong to orchestra club and chorus group. I’m happy to enjoy music.
このようなとても貴重な経験をさせてくれた両親や先生への感謝の気持ちを忘れずに、これからも努力を続けていこうと思います。この留学が始まってから、すでに約1か月半が過ぎていますが、まだまだできることはたくさんあると思うので、できる限り今の生活を楽しみ、悔いの残らない留学となるようにします！
I’ll continue to strive without forgetting to thank my parents and teachers. One and a half months have passed since I arrived in New Zealand. However, there is still a lot I can do. I do my best! Thank you for reading.
