高校2年生(37期生)　

　5月23日（火）高校2年アカデミック英語の授業でプレゼンテーション試験を行いました。クラスの前に立って発表を行い、生徒同士がお互いにプレゼンの採点を行う形式で実施しました。

　プレゼンのテーマは “Why Do I Study English?”。英語の選択授業を取った生徒は英語を得意としていますが、その生徒達にこのテーマを与えた理由としてそれぞれ自分の過去・未来・現在を見つめ直してほしいという理由からです。

　生徒が持っている将来への展望はそれぞれ異なりますが、全員に一つだけ共通することがありました。それは世界中の様々な人々と英語で交流したいということでした。英語という言語を使用して交流を行うことで、異なる文化間にある障壁を乗り越え、よりよい未来を期待するということでした。
　発表者全員とても良い発表が出来ました。

On May 23th, we had a presentation test for Senior 2nd graders in an elective subject for English.  All members made their presentations in front of the class, and they made peer assessment to critique and provide feedback to each other.

The theme given to them is “Why Do I Study English?”  The theme may seem inconsistent with the elective English course they have taken as those who take this course are supposed to be more proficient in English than others.  The reason this theme was given to them is to make them reflect on the past, the present and the future of their life.

What made them proficient in the language? (the past)  What do they expect of it? (the future)  Why do they study English? (the present)

All of them have different perspectives for their future dreams, but there is one thing they have in common: they want to communicate with many people around the world in English.
Some of them have friends in foreign countries, and they communicate with each other in English.
All of them want to expand each of their network through the language as they already know linguistic communication leads them to overcome barriers that lie among different cultures.  They expect a better future as their knowledge of different cultures widens and deepens through communication with those from different cultural backgrounds.
